Here I am in lovely Idaho. Well, it's not as lovely as I had hoped. The week before we came, it was really really cold and snowy. But, by the time we arrived, the weather was up into the 40s, and the snow was melting away. So far this week we've had lots of rain. But sadly, no snow. There is hope though....the weather says it may snow tomorrow. So, my fingers are crossed.
We've had a lovely Christmas with Denny's family. We arrived on Wednesday (after leaving on Wednesday, gotta love that whole flying back in time thing) in Boise. Denny's sister Stacey picked us up at the airport and we went to her house for the evening. We met our new nephew Geoffrey (well, he's not that new, he's now 8 months old)--the smiliest baby we've seen. He was happy to meet us too. We also saw Elizabeth, who is now 3 1/2....it's been two years since we've seen her and boy has she grown. On Thursday, we went to the mall (oh..the mall....how i miss thee), and then drove to Twin Falls to the house Denny grew up in. Since then, we've been to Target, the Twin Falls mall, and Old Navy. LOL. We are so excited to be able to buy clothes in our favorite places.
Christmas weekend was really nice. Denny's sister Camille and her son Alex were able to be with us all weekend. And Alex has been around quite a bit. He turns 13 in a couple of weeks and is very happy to be able to spend time with his Uncle Denny. We had a big ham feast on Christmas Eve with Denny's Uncle Gene and Aunt Charlene. And for Christmas morning I made my mom 's French Custard Toast with blueberry syrup. I've eaten this for breakfast every Christmas for as long as I can remember. We all had fun opening presents and stockings and watching everyone else open gifts. It's funny how, the older you get, the more you enjoy the giving part of Christmas and seeing the joy in other people's faces. Stacey, Jim, Elizabeth and Geoffrey came over in the afternoon and we had more present opening. I did take pictures, but haven't uploaded them yet. Can you believe I actually travelled without my laptop?
Denny and I went out on our own for the day after Christmas and did more shopping. And yesterday, we had an early birthday party for Alex since everyone is in town. Jim and Stacey head back to Boise today, and we'll see them again next week before we leave. The rest of the week we have a few things we want to do, but, we aren't making a schedule...just seeing how we feel each day.
There's the Christmas update. More later (with pictures).
