Who needs crackers when you can just put all the peanut butter straight into your mouth? Yay for snacktime!
Poor us. Denny left on Friday, and Dylan came down with a cold the same day. So, barring a short trip to Tina's house on Friday morning...we were pretty much cooped up all weekend. Me being me tried to come up with new things for us to do and try. I pulled out a book I haven't consulted in awhile called "First Art" and wrote down projects for us to do. And we did fit in art projects between playing play doh and painting and train tracks and tigger and pooh and climbing on mommy and meals.
On Friday afternoon, we did chalk art. We wet the construction paper and then drew with chalk onto it. Dylan kept asking for more water....he didn't think he had enough. So, unfortunately, his lovely drawing was mostly erased by the extra water he kept dumping on it. But, as my book says, it's all about the process.
On Saturday morning, we made our own play clay so that we could make big beads. They are still drying, but once they are nice and hard we can paint them, and then string them on yarn or lanyards to work on fine motor skills. Dylan really enjoyed kneading the dough and sticking chopsticks through it to make holes. He ended up making one or two beads. I had to keep sneaking bits of dough to make the beads and put them on a tray.

Look at those rosy rosy cheeks and the poor snotty nose. He had fun squishing though.

Here are the beads when we were finished.
Saturday afternoon, I pulled out the plaster of paris so we could do Squeezy Bag Sculptures. You add plaster of paris and water to a plastic baggie, seal it up and then double bag it. After about 5-10 minutes it starts to thicken and you start squeezing it all around, and after a few more minutes it hardens.

Dylan mixes the plaster and water together in the baggie. He got bored with this and went to watch Tigger and Pooh. When it started to thicken I handed it back to him and he squeezed it around until it hardened into this shape:

I think that this looks like ocean waves.....but will my toddler paint it that way?

Off to a good start with the blue....

But when you keep adding colors...which is Dylan's most favorite thing to do with paint, you end up with mud. *grin*.
I have to mention that anytime we paint now, Dylan only wants to paint his sculpture....it's getting a nice thick layer of all the different colors on it.
And that's it for this post as I'm still waiting for the rest of my photos and videos to upload. There's a nice long video of Dylan painting....hopefully it will be here when it finishes uploading.
