So, wow, I have some catching up to do. First of all, new videos on the video page (and new photos too). Hmmm...where to start. How about earlier in the week. Dylan rolled over....and over and over. Every time he did it he looked surprised. He did it first to his left. And then I put him back on his tummy and got the camera. Before I could get it turned on he rolled to his right. And then I caught it on video...twice. He rolled 4 times in all. Since that day (February 5), he has done it every now and then when he's on his tummy.
Oh, and last Saturday, we had our very first babysitter. Our friend Debbie, who is a mother and grandmother had been volunteering to babysit. So when I ran into her on Friday at the BX, and she offered again, I took her up on it and asked if she was busy over the weekend. We really really appreciated her services. We went out to eat at a new restaurant on base, Eastside Blues. They serve all kinds of BBQ...and we had delicious ribs and a pulled pork sandwich. After stuffing ourselves we headed over to the movie theatre to see Catch and Release. It felt so nice to be out with each other, and not have to worry about Dylan for a few hours. I think we will have to make this a monthly thing....it's a good way to "recharge" a bit.

I've reintroduced Dylan to the bouncy seat...and he seems to like it for much longer than he used to. Especially if I'm sitting in front talking to him (which I can do while eating my breakfast...yay!) and if there is a balloon around. Which we always make sure there is (we've had red, blue and our current one is gold...and I've found out they are refillable). We've found that when the balloon is deflated a bit, he can grab on and make some noise...he really enjoys it.

He is also becoming really good at grabbing things. He's found both hands and rubs them together oh so cutely..and has learned he can hold things with both hands. Like this soft block. He then promptly tries to put whatever he has in his hands into his mouth. His other new found talent is scooting. I put him in his crib the other day to look at his mobile...walked away..and when I came back he had scooted himself to where his head was touching the bumper pad....I was quite amused. Luckily, when he tries to scoot on the floor, all that happens is the blanket gets bunched up....it's harder to get the traction on the carpet.

Denny's had a busy week...he had an all day gig on Tuesday, and headed out of town on Wednesday. He'll be gone for 5 days. So, we had a mini-adventure with my friend Gina and her two boys (one almost 3 and the other 8). We headed off to the New Sanno hotel in downtown Tokyo yesterday morning on the bus. I didn't quite know what to pack or what to expect from Dylan on the trip. We got on the bus, he ate and slept the rest of the way. He woke up when we got there and I transferred him to the stroller. I do love my stroller..I just wish it folded down a bit more compactly....it's a bit difficult to transport when not in use. We checked in to our rooms, I fed Dylan and then we went for a walk to the international grocery and book stores. He was a bit cranky on the way there (the sun is just too bright...can you turn it down lady?), and then fell asleep again. Which worked out well for my shopping (when he's awake in the stroller he tends to want you to keep on moving). After our outing, we headed back to the hotel for more feeding. And, we wanted to go to the pool. I was really hoping to give Dylan his first pool experience while at the New Sanno...mainly because it's an indoor pool and there is no going outside to get back to our room. Unfortunately, the pool water was too cold and the hot tub was too hot. So, I settled for dipping his feet in the water and showing him how to splash a bit. He really enjoyed watching the reflections on the water. I wish I could have taken a picture of us sitting on the edge of the pool. But, Gina had her hands full with her two boys...so I'll have to settle for my mental photo of the moment. Dylan was such a good boy..just taking everything in.

Dylan lounging by the poolside (long enough for me to snap a shot).

Dylan playing on the bed in our hotel room. One of the best baby purchases I've made recently is this pop open play gym. It folds up nice and compact and then pops right open (with one hand even). It came in very handy during the trip.
We had a baby sitter for two hours in the evening so that Gina and I could have dinner. Which was very nice..we went to the japanese restaurant in the hotel. We enjoyed an uninterrupted conversation and had a small break. When we got back to the room, Dylan was sleepy and had been a bit cranky for the babysitter. I took him back to my room and fed him and he was out by 9:45pm (he's usually up til 10:30 or 11). I ended up sharing my bed with him because I was a bit afraid of the metal crib they supplied...there was no crib bumper and I was afraid of Dylan bonking his head. So, he slept in the middle and I slept on the side. It actually worked out quite nicely.....nighttime feedings were very easy. No getting up for me, and no moving him back to his own bed hoping he stays asleep.

Jacob, Liam, Dylan and I. Liam wanted to hold Dylan...I don't think he realized that Dylan is a heavy little guy (they actually wear the same diaper size...and Liam is almost 3). Gina took the picture.
This morning, Dylan was up early, which was good. Because he went down for his morning nap in time for me to eat breakfast. Awesome. And then we packed up and checked out and went out walking again. He was awake for most of the time, that is until we went to the park and were riding over rougher terrain. That put him right to sleep. Which was too bad, cause I was kind of looking forward to showing him the ducks. Oh well, next time.

Sleepy boy in the park.
When we got back, it was time to get our luggage and for me to pack up the stroller. So, I put down the handy dandy pop open play gym and was able to take care of business. Jacob and Liam really like playing with Dylan and had fun on the floor with him.

On the bus ride back, Dylan was awake the whole time. He ate, then acted like he wanted to eat some more. And really wanted to get into his play gym...and would get a little fussy..we'd change position...but for the most part....he did really really well. Such a good baby! We are so lucky. He even was good in the car seat on the way home from the bus stop. But, boy, after we got home and he played a bit on the floor..he was ready for a nap and zonked out. And, we had early bedtime again tonight...which I was planning on doing (cause I'm as exhausted as he was)...but I got on the computer instead. And now it's 11:15 and I'm stopping and going to bed. Yes, yes I am.

On the bus.
