Kenchin-jiru (a japanese soup). I used a recipe on Blue_Lotus's blog to make mine (with a few additions here and there). Mine has daikon, leeks, gobou, carrot, green onions, potato, tofu, shiitake, bean sprouts, dashi stock and miso.
I used the fish that Blue_Lotus had with her kenchin-jiru as inspiration for mine. The commissary doesnt' have fresh fish, so i used frozen flounder (no time to go off base to find fish this week). I marinated the flounder in a mixture of mirin, sesame oil, soy sauce, and ginger paste. Then, the fish was rolled and pressed in sesame seeds and fried in sesame oil til the seeds became golden brown.
The cold sesame noodle recipe is a Rachel Ray recipe that turned out really well. I used rice noodles instead of the chinese egg noodles she used and I added bean sprouts. I made too many noodles though and needed to make more sauce the second night.
